Infrastructure

Infrastructure that keeps the product online.

Cloud hosting, deployment pipelines, monitoring, backups and security, set up by the team that built the product and documented so your own team can run it.

Overview

Most of what goes wrong with a live product is not in the code. It is a certificate that expired, a server nobody updated, a backup that was never tested, or a release only one person knows how to run.

We set up infrastructure the way we build software: written down, reviewed and repeatable. Every environment is defined in code, every release goes through the same pipeline, and every alert reaches someone who can act on it.

It works for products we built and for ones we did not. We regularly take over hosting from a previous agency, move a site off shared hosting, or bring an ageing server under control before it fails.

What is included

Every engagement covers the whole job.

  • Hosting and architecture

The right home for the product, from a managed platform to AWS, sized for today's traffic with room to grow.

  • Deployment pipelines

Every change built, tested and released the same way, with previews for review and a one-step rollback.

  • Infrastructure as code

Servers, databases, DNS and permissions defined in version-controlled files, not in someone's memory.

  • Monitoring and alerts

Uptime, errors and performance watched around the clock, with alerts that reach a person.

  • Backups and recovery

Automated backups kept off-site and restores rehearsed, so recovery is a procedure rather than a hope.

  • Security and access

TLS, firewalls, secrets management, least-privilege access and patching on a schedule.

  • Migrations

Moving off shared hosting or an old server with a tested plan, and a cut-over customers do not notice.

  • Cost control

Spending reviewed against usage, so the bill grows with the business and not by accident.

Approach

How we run infrastructure

Managed services first, custom servers only when there is a reason. Everything is defined in code and reviewed like code, staging mirrors production, and nothing changes in production by hand. At handover your team gets the runbooks, the access and the alerts.

  • AWS
  • Vercel
  • Cloudflare
  • Docker
  • Terraform
  • GitHub Actions
  • PostgreSQL
  • Sentry
  • Grafana

How it runs

A typical infrastructure engagement

From an audit of what is running to a setup your team can run on its own.

  1. 01

    Audit what is running

Servers, domains, certificates, backups and access, listed with the risks that matter most.

  2. 02

    Design the target setup

Hosting, pipeline, monitoring and recovery, agreed in writing with the costs attached.

  3. 03

    Build and migrate

The new environment defined in code, tested in staging, then cut over with a way back.

  4. 04

    Monitor and hand over

Alerts, dashboards and runbooks in place, and a team that knows how to use them.

Questions

Things clients ask before they start.

Can you take over hosting from our current provider or agency?

Yes. We audit what is running, document it, and move it to a setup you control, with a cut-over planned so customers do not notice.

Do we need AWS, or is something simpler enough?

Often something simpler is enough. Many sites run well on a managed platform for a fraction of the cost. We recommend the smallest setup that meets the product's real needs.

Who owns the accounts and the infrastructure?

You do. Cloud accounts, domains and repositories are set up in your name, and we work through access you can revoke at any time.

Can you monitor and maintain it after launch?

Yes, under a support agreement with agreed response times, or with a clean handover so your own team runs it.

Have something in mind?
